Signs of Spring
Spring is one of my favorite times of year. When I lived in the midwest, I longed for the first signs of spring, especially when it seemed like winter might not ever end. Every year, I was always amazed at the miraculous survival of plants and flowers in the garden. Just when it seemed impossible for anything to survive through the tough, freezing winter, new growth would start to poke out through the seemingly barren ground. Now that I'm back in California, it seems like winter is short and spring starts early, which is definitely fine by me! In my garden, there are currently plenty of signs of spring. I see trees budding and healthy bulb leaves growing tall. The stubby remnant stems of the hydrangea are now full of leaves.

The cala lilies are blooming like crazy and the breath of heaven really is a "breath of heaven." The flowering quince led the pack with beautiful winter blooms - definitely a stand out in the garden!

There are also a few signs of spring inside as well. Here are a few signs of spring inside my home:

I hope you are enjoying some of the many signs of spring around your home as well!

Comment: hi Tom -- sorry to hear it is still chilly in the Northeast. I hope the kids didn't have to dig through snow to find Easter eggs! Don't worry, spring will be there before you know it!

Comment: Here in Rochester we are more than ready to see those signs. The icebergs haven't quite disappeared yet ;-) I must say I did hear a robin yesterday although I haven't seen one yet so we must be close!
